Marker dyes can be added to any spray solution to avoid under-spraying or overlapping when spraying. The dye itself is harmless and will not permanently dye the sprayed areas. The dyes will degrade over 24-48 hours.
Nuisance grasses such as Crabgrass, Quack grass, Bermuda Grass, or any “clump” grass with extra wide blades require special treatment to stop and prevent. Broad-leaf herbicide spray will not kill these grass types, but Greenlon offers spring pe-emergent to control future growth.
Weeds that are actively growing and get sprayed by Greenlon will die. But just as quickly as the weeds die, many more are ready to grow. Weed control is a process and not just a one-time event. The fight against weeds will be won if weeds are sprayed regularly.
If your lawn is stressed, weeds will thrive. Improper mowing and irrigation practices will cause stress for your lawn. The goal is to improve turf growth to choke out the weeds.
Irrigation—Improper irrigation can encourage weed growth. Irrigate just one or two times weekly with water that soaks 6 to 8 inches deep. This promotes healthy grass root growth. If you have sandy soils, you will need more frequent and shallower irrigation because the soil will not hold the water. Be patient and experiment to find the ideal water scheduling for your lawn.
Mowing—Cutting your lawn too short will stress your grass. Do not cut more than one-third of the grass blade in a single mowing. Leaving your grass taller helps retain moisture and control weed growth.
